One of the most powerful forces on this planet is the human soul on fire, whose spirit is engulfed in an unprecedented desire to conquer any obstacle; the one whose soul empowers themselves by following their consciences and unleashing their passions.
This post represents a series of three acrylic paintings using traditional art techniques to convey the “soul of a firestorm,” utilizing the contemporary “chiaroscuro” effect. Although the style of chiaroscuro in visual arts has varied since the Renaissance, it usually refers to contrasting areas of light and darkness within a single canvas. In addition, my black and white acrylic paint on canvas also references different eras of art, such as Surrealism, Cubism, and Early Expressionism.
Moreover, most of my creations draw inspiration from real-life stories and experiences of Expressionism.
This series of artwork revolves around the theme of a “Fiery Soul.”
Soul of a Firestorm represents transformations; it reflects the journey through the eyes of a young girl who is evolving into a woman. The artwork illustrates a fiery female soul who sees beauty in all things broken and damaged. As beauty does not always have to define glamour or the exterior form, beauty can also be intelligence, strength, and character, including her ability to rebuild herself. Like the phoenix, she rises and falls and never gives up. She is fearless in her pursuit of what ignites her soul.
The first canvas depicts her gracefulness and innocence. Despite her elegance, this abstract vision also represents a contradiction filled with virtue, melancholy, and secrets. There is, however, optimism, hope, strength, and peace. A mysterious aura of ethereal simplicity envelops the young girl, who appears to throb with inescapable turbulence. And a whirlwind of the upcoming storm curls around her innocence. Yet, she continues to live in the moment of her dreams, unbeknownst to the depths of her fiery soul.
The turbulence and darkness in the physical world consume her being on the second canvas, making it confusing and unsettling for her inner self. She finds herself trapped within the fences and walls built by society, which makes her lost in the abyss. Yet, she is fearless. Even though she has demons in her head, drugs in her veins, and madness in her mind, she is not frightened. Instead, the love in her heart and the fire in her soul provide her with an act of oceanic courage and strength to overcome the inner battles she faces. And despite being in the abyss, she learned to love it.
As they say, encountering a certain comfort amid the storm hovers over calmness.
Eventually, on canvas three, she discovers her fierce and unbreakable quiddity as her passion burns brighter than the horrors of the abyss. The young woman identifies and accepts her weaknesses and breaks free, ultimately enabling her to determine the firestorm contributing to freedom and empowerment. And finally, her intuition became her favorite superpower as she followed her conscience. She has the soul of a storm and the power of the wind. And, like a storm, she dances on the breeze of change wherever her path leads.
